North Korea Test-Fires Three Ballistic Missiles
SEOUL—North Korea launched three ballistic missiles off its east coast on Thursday, officials in Seoul and Tokyo said, after it imposed a nationwide lockdown prompted by its first reported local case of Covid-19.
The missiles were fired at 6:29 p.m. local time from the Sunan area, on the outskirts of Pyongyang. They reached an altitude of roughly 56 miles and traveled about 224 miles before falling into the waters between Korea and Japan, Seoul officials said. The missiles landed outside of Japan’s exclusive economic zone, according to Japanese Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi.
